Goal #1: Exercise every morning (Mon - Fri) this week.
Progress: On Thursday morning I got up and did a yoga video again.
Goal #2: Take both kids outside every day and spent some time playing with them.
Progress: Thursday Sky has piano lessons in the morning so I didn't take the kids out to play. However, they did get out of the house as we went took Sky to her piano lesson, ran some errands, stopped by the tot spot playgroup, and went grocery shopping.
Thursday night (or actually Friday morning) Star got sick at 1 AM and didn't stop getting sick until 7 AM so all bets were off on Friday. I just tried to make it through the day. Sky was nice enough to take LK out for a short time so he could get some fresh air.

Weekly Goals Update
Goal #1: Exercise every morning (Mon - Fri) this week.
Progress: Yeah, for me! Once again I managed to get up and do a little exercise. This morning I did a walking video. And yes, I am really out of shape as video totally wore me out. Just another reason to keep working on this.
Goal #2: Take both kids outside every day and spent some time playing with them.
Progress: We spent some time outside this morning. We feed the chickens and found some eggs. The horses were around so we visited them and then LK decided to climb on the bales.

Weekly Goals Update
Just a quick update of my weekly goals.
Goal #1: Exercise every morning (Mon - Fri) this week.
Progress: Well, I made it out of bed early again this morning. As I slowly ease my way back into exercising I did another yoga video this morning. It started out easy enough but I was sweating and out of breath by the time I got halfway through.
Goal #2: Take both kids outside every day and spent some time playing with them.
Progress: We spent probably 45 min outside this morning. It wasn't too cold but it was a bit windy. We looked at our shadows and LK even played a bit of shadow tag with me. Then I took them for a short walk in the wagon. It turned out quite nice this afternoon so when the older girls went out to do their chores LK tagged along and they played outside for a while.

All that fresh air tuckered someone out. She didn't quite make it through lunch (and yes she is a messy eater).

Weekly Goals
Well, this space has been a bit quiet lately. Things have been busy and keeping up with a two year old and a one year old is always a challenge. However, I do feel like I could be doing more or doing things better. So I've set a couple of goals for this week and plan to post how I am doing here to keep myself accountable.
Goal #1: Exercise every morning (Mon - Fri) this week. I have not been exercising much at all lately and this is something I would really like to add to my routine as I feel much better and have more energy when I exercise regularly.
Progress: Well, I got up this morning but did not feel like exercising (who really feels like exercising at 6AM). I took a couple of minutes to wake up and then popped in a yoga strength training DVD. I felt great when I was done.
Goal #2: Take both kids outside every day and spent some time playing with them. I must admit since the weather has turned colder we haven't been spending much time outside. I've taken to just rushing out with LK for few minutes to feed the chickens and cats while Lil naps. However, she loves to be outside as well and we could all stand to spend some more time outside. This is Saskatchewan and the weather is only going to get colder so we might as well get used to it. I am bringing my camera along and will share some photos of our outside fun.
Progress: Here are some pictures from today's outside time. It was really nice when we first went out but then it started to rain.

Happy New Year!
Yes, I realize that New Years Day was a few days ago but today was the girls first day back at school after the holidays so it feels like now is the start of the new year. I hope everyone had a good holiday. Ours went quite well. We ate too much food, got lot's presents, and played a lot of games. It was great to have a lot of our family come and visit. While nobody was able to stay very long, it was kind of nice to see everyone without having to travel. We did travel for the New Year's weekend to my sister-in-laws place (about a 3 1/2 hour drive). The roads were good and we made use of our vans DVD player so the trip was no hardship. The girls really enjoyed playing with all their cousins there. We did go skating a few times over the holiday as well which is always fun and it was good to get out and get some exercise to offset all the eating we were doing.

The three daily habits that I want to establish are:
1. A prayer/meditation time.
2. Exercise.
3. Doing the dishes each night so as to wake up to a clean kitchen.
At this point I am not worried about how long or productive #'s 1 & 2. I just want to establish the habit of doing these things daily. I plan to keep track on a calendar the days I reach this goal.
In addition I will be posting some monthly goals. This month my goal is to clean and declutter the master bedroom. This room is somewhat of a dumping ground and I really need to go through, get rid of stuff I no longer need/wear and give it a good cleaning. It has gotten so bad that sometimes when I ask the girls to clean their room they say, "But your room isn't clean, so why do we have to clean ours." Eeeek, time to get that cleaned up and lead by example.
Also this month I want to work on LK's first year scrapbook. I can't believe that his 1st birthday is rapidly approaching. I would like to get this book mostly complete this month.
There you have it. My new year's resolution and some monthly goals for January. I will check in at the end of the month and let you know how it is going.
Do you make New Year's resolutions? What are you working on this year?

LK was happy to hang out and watch us skate.
So with the new year comes of course New Year's resolutions. I don't always make New Years resolutions (and never actually keep them) but I do like to have some goals that I am working on and the new year does seem like a good place to start. I did find it hard to pick what I wanted to work on for this year as there is so much I would like to go. I decided to work on establishing 3 daily habits that always seem to make the rest of my day go smoother but they always seem to go undone when things get busy.

Weigh-in Wednesday and Weekly Goal
Here is my weight loss tip for the week: Breastfeed. Seriously, I have been eating like a pig and not exercising this past week and I am still down one pound. This weeks weight is 162 lbs. Apparently breastfeeding burns up to 500 calories a day. So that is just one benefit to add to the many of breastfeeding. I enjoy breastfeeding my son. It is my time to sit and cuddle with him and I often sneak in a few minutes of reading as well. Also I can feed him anywhere, at any time with no worry about bottles, measuring formula, or any of that.
In any case I still want to work on eating healthier. Again this week I did not do so well with the food diary and increasing my intake of fruits and vegetables. So again this is something I want to work on. Along with drinking my water which I quickly slack off on if I don't keep track of it.
My other goal last week was to clean my closet area. That did not get done. So my goal is to do that tomorrow. I am having company this weekend and I want them to be able to get into the closet and have a clean table to set stuff on. Here is a "before" picture and I hope to be posting some beautiful "after" pictures tomorrow.

Yikes, what a mess! I am amazed how quickly it gets messy. This is just sort of a dumping ground as you come in the door. I also store extra groceries in here and need to tidy them up.

Weigh-In Wednesday and Weekly Goal
I have decided to post my weekly goals on Wednesday now to coincide with my weigh-in. The last weekly goals I posted a while back in this post were to keep a food diary and go through the girls summer clothes.
It took me a while to get there but I did get the summer clothes put out and I went through their clothes a little bit. As far as keeping a food diary it was kind of hit and miss. I did it for a little while but then fell off track.
So for this week I want to refocus on keeping that food diary and eating more fruits and veggies.
Also I have been having a hard time staying motivated the last week. So for my homemaking goal I am going to work on finishing my morning routine by 10:00 AM. My morning routine consist of a number of tasks that have to be completed daily and looks something like this:
Now for my weight this week : 164 lbs. That is down one more pound. Yes! Hopefully I can keep it off.
Well, that's it for this week. What goals are you working on?

My Weekly Goal
This week for my weekly goal I am going to try to keep a food diary. I will track my water intake, vitamins, and food. I am going to continue to try and drink 4 bottles of water a day, drink only one pop a week, and just try to reduce the amount of food I am eating while increasing my intake of fruits and veggies. So we will see how that goes.
On the homemaking front I need to go through the girls clothes and bring out their summer clothes. Any spare time I have this week I want to spend in the garden. So I want to focus on just the basics in the house, keeping it clean so it doesn't end up completely ignored while I spend time outside.

My Weekly Goal
So I have been doing pretty good with my weekly goals. I have been keeping up with drinking my water and taking my vitamins. Last week my goal was to have no pop and I had two cokes on the weekend. So I didn't entirely achieve it but that is much less than I normally drink. This week I want to continue with the water drinking and taking my vitamins, as well as only have one coke this week.
On the house cleaning we did finally get the girls room cleaned up yesterday, so this week I want to make sure it stays that way by having the girls tidy it every night. Also my goal for this week is to clean the porch. It has finally stopped raining and snowing so if I get it cleaned maybe it will stay that way for a little while. I am planning on putting the winter stuff away as well as hopefully we have seen the last of the snow for a couple months.

My Weekly Goal
Last week my goal was to drink a least 4 bottles of water a day and take my vitamins. I did pretty good, reaching my goal every day but Sunday. As long as I keep my water bottle filled it isn't hard for me to sip the water, but when I don't bother to keep it filled I don't drink nearly as much water. If you are trying to drink more water this is my best tip: Keep a full water bottle around and sip it through out the day. My water bottle has a straw top which I prefer as I find it easier to sip with.
This week my goal is going to be a bit harder for me. I want to continue tracking my water intake making sure to drink at least 4 bottles and in addition not drink any pop this week. I have a coke nearly every afternoon and I want to get rid of that habit.
On the household front I want to clean and organize the girls room and help them keep it that way. Anyone have tips on how to get an eight year old and a six year old to keep their room clean?
Monday: 4 bottles of water, vitamins, no coke

My Weekly Goal
One of the things I plan to do on this blog is to post a weekly goal and follow up to see how I did. In the interests of being healthy and possibly losing some weight this week's goal is to drink 4 bottles of water min. per day and remember to take my vitamins. I will track how I did in this post. I find if I fill up my water bottle and sip it throughout the day I drink much more water that if I just go to the kitchen and get a glass of water when I feel thirsty. So I will be sure to keep my water bottle full to help me achieve this goal.
Monday: 4 bottles of water and I remembered to take my vitamins.
Tuesday: 5 bottles of water and vitamins.
Wednesday: 5 bottles of water and vitamins.
Thursday: 4 bottles of water and vitamins.
Friday: 5 bottles of water and vitamins.
Saturday: 4 bottles of water and vitamins.
